Location: Just
north of, and in line with the Syama Gold Mine currently being reopened by Resolute Mining.
N’Golopene is located on a Birimian formation, on the volcano-sedimentary rock hosting the
Syama gold mine (6.4Moz @ 3,0g/t). Robex identified
targets, two of which, offer opportunities including eluvial, and hard rock
environments.
Several areas of the
property exhibit historical and current gold digging activity. The Banmbere and
the N'Golopene sectors show geological settings favourable for gold
mineralization.
A geochemical survey was
completed mid-November 2006 over the entire property and a geophysical survey
covering half the property was carried out in December 2006. These two detailed
surveys combined with the structural analysis of the work undertaken earlier
have pointed out two main targets. An exploratory 3,000m drilling program did
not return significant results. Drilling at depth could return grades more consistent
with Syama’s grade at depth along the same geophysical structure. Conclusion
and plans
Robex is just starting exploration on the N’Golopene
project. The proximity of the Syama mine and the indications gathered
so far have only increased our interest and our confidence in the potential of this
large target. Resolute mining is currently exploring and developing the southern extension of the Syama Mine in a JV with Etruscan Resources on the Finkolo permit. Identified in 2007, the Tabakoroni deposit is already undergoing a resource estimation.
