ROBEX - VERY FIRST TRENCH ON WILI-WILI INTERCEPTS 13 M WIDTH AT 2.29 g/t Au AND TWO 4-METRE DEEP PIT VALUES AT 1.96 AND 3.58 g/t Au.

Return to press releases

01/09/2007

Montreal - Robex Resources Inc. (TSX-V: RBX) is pleased to announce that the first trench dug in the Fandou area of its Wili-Wili property located in West Mali, has intercepted a 13-metre wide mineralized zone grading 2.29 g/t Au. Two of the three pits dug in the same trench have returned values of 1.96 and 3.58 g/t Au over 4 and 5 metres deep respectively. The positive results obtained at Wili-Wili add to the positive results obtained by Robex with the drilling program recently carried out at Nampala (see Press Release 18-06 of December 19, 2006).

Trenching and pits program on the Wili-Wili property.

In early December 2006, an East-West oriented 150-metre-long trench was dug, in the Fandou area of the Wili-Wili property. This is the same area where several pits had intersected high-grade-gold-values in the northern central section of a strong 2.8 km long x 600 m wide geochemical anomaly identified through soil-geochemistry last June (see Press Release 13-06 June 29, 2006). A map of the localization is presented below. Click to enlarge.

This trench will be followed by several more in January 2007. More pits will also be dug on this trench and on the next trenches, which will be spaced at 200 metre intervals from north to south following an East-West orientation like the first one.

Sampling

Samples from the trenches were collected in the saprolite by metric intervals, by horizontal channel sampling at the bottom of the trench, of which the average depth is 2 metres. Samples from the pits were collected by vertical metric intervals from the pit walls at depths of 2 to 7 metres.

Analyses were carried out at the Abilab laboratory in Bamako, Mali on samples weighing more than 2 kg. The quality of the analysis was tested by adding blanks (sterile), standards and by duplicating samples. The numbers for these samples were distributed at random.

Results:

This trench was the first one dug on the Fandou anomaly. The three pits sampled are orpailleur (artisanal mining workers) pits located along the trench which have been sampled and analysed as confirmation of gold grades

The goal of this first trench was to observe the lithologies present in the area and to initiate the development of the mineralized Fandou showing. This development will continue more intensely throughout 2007.

The following tables show the most significant results in the trenches and in the pits.

The lithologies identified in the trenches and in the pits are greywackes, shales and silts typically found in the birrimian formation found in this area and are associated with numerous quartz veins forming networks of veins and veinlets (stockworks) more or less continuous.

Projected exploration work

Exploration work in the coming months will consist of the opening of new trenches and in the digging of complementary pits in the Fandou zone. A detailed soil-geochemistry survey will cover a vast zone surrounding the Fandou anomaly to evaluate additional zones that have not yet seen work. An IP survey might be undertaken to define drilling targets. Drilling will start in March 2007 on the Fandou Zone. In early February important bulldozing work will start to improve access to this zone, in particular south of the Falémé River.

Simultaneously, Robex follow up exploration works on its N’Golopene property, adjacent to the Syama Mine in South Mali, where a recent feasibility study carried out by Resolute mining showed that the resources, all categories included, now stand at more than 47 MT at a grade of 3.0 g/t gold, for approximately 6,4 M oz gold.

In the next few weeks, Robex will initiate a drilling program at N’Golopene over soil-geochemical and geophysics (I.P.) targets

Robex Resources Inc TSX-V: RBX is a Canadian mining exploration and development company focusing on Mali, West Africa. Mali is currently the 4th most important gold producing country in Africa. Robex's permanent exploration office is located in Mali, and is operated by senior geologists with an extensive experience in West African mining exploration. The team works on projects the Company already owns and is always on the lookout for new projects with favourable geology and a high potential for the discovery of world-class gold deposits. This permanent presence in Mali has allowed Robex to become one of the most active exploration and development companies in West Africa. In 2005, Robex was the third most important mining company operating in Mali in terms of investment in exploration.
